M5 headers are on the way from Germany (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=120050543486)

I'm looking for a pre-fabbed m30 exhaust flange plate, since I'll have to hack off the S38B36 ports so it will bolt up to the M30.

Anyone have a lead on something like this or know someone who might?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. There are places that can cut me a new one if I supply drawings, but surely someone else has fabbed up an M30 header before.

TIA

Robin

Hi Robin,

Have you tried these guys?:

http://www.666fabrication.com/products.html

Looks like they specialize in e30 products but I bet there's more than one of them out there with an m30 engine in it.

Are you going to Sandia tomorrow nite for the tech session? I'll bring one of my stock cast iron manifolds for you to borrow if you want for matching it with an off the shelf flange, otherwise we can connect for lunch one of these days. Napa has a good selection if you can get one of the older guys at the main branch on N. 1st St. to get out the catalog. My Hartge's have individual 2-hole flanges for each of the 6 tubes. Some of Napa's offerings are quite stout but the i.d. is certain to be round and would require some tweaking with a die grinder to make the hole square with rounded corners, but worth a shot if you can find a close match.

Cheers,

Don

Hi Don,

I won't be at the tech session this year either. I think it's been 2 years now... means I've had this 535 for almost 3 years! So far I've only really done a fan clutch and oil changes, but the brakes are finally due.

Thanks for the link, I'll see what they got. If I can't find some cheap enough I'll take you up on the offer to borrow the OEM headers. Heck, give me a die grinder, a plate of stainless steel and a weekend alone and I'll grind my own dang flange!

Hi Don,

I did actually, spoke with Mike Montgomery over there - they only have cast ones.

@535ise - thanks for that link! Looks like there are a ton of guys over there that are building up M30s. So far the group buy looks like it's just for M20's and they're already gathering the money... I might contact the guy with the drawings to see if he would share the file in case I need to get it cut somewhere.

Jon at 666 Fabrication referred me to Stahl Headers, and they apparenly have some but it's not as cheap as I was hoping for... but if it's a good piece I might get it. Still don't know if the holes are just round of if in fact they are pre-matched to the stock head port.

Thanks guys - appreciate the help!
