Thinking of picking some up. Looks like a good tire, highly ranked in Performance All-Season, and pretty reasonable in a 235/45-17... and 500 treadwear rating.

I run nice sticky tires on my E36, but E34's chew em up a little quicker (the fact that my 540i's about 50% heavier than my E36 affects that...) I think I just want some decent high treadwear rubber on this thing.

Suggestions?

I went to them to get a little longer treadlife and lower noise from the Dunlop SP Sport A2 I had on the E30. I've been very impressed with noise and wet grip, but admittedly, I've been trying to nurse the car a bit more these days. They were fairly cheap for me at $53/each...

I'd say thumbs up on the stock size, not sure about going to 17s...

Well, the my e36 is supercharged on coilovers and running Sparco Evo's and harnesses... so if I'm gonna push a car, that's the tool for the job. 540's a daily with the occasional bit of excitement, but nothing too drastic. About $110-120 shpped for the Yoko's, so cheaper than most the competition in that size, and seemingly solid reviews on all aspects...

I am pretty happy with the V4s on our 1999 528iT (225-55-16's). We don't push this car very hard, but handling, wet and dry traction, etc. seem fine to me. The price is clearly right and treadwear seems pretty good. I have Yoko dBS2's on my 1994 530iT, and they are OK, but treadwear not as good and I don't think handling (or noise) is much better than the V4s. I will change to V4s on the 530iT when these wear out.

I've got the H4S's on my 535, I like them a lot. Previously had some Kumho's, which were pretty good in the dry but very slippery in the wet.

The H4S's are great in the rain. I can jam on the brakes at full speed and it's hard to tell that it's wet outside.

When new they weren't too sticky and kind of noisy, but as they have worn in they now stick noticeably better.

Not as good as the Kumhos dry but they stick good enough to jam in a few hard turns here and there. Also - you can't deny the treadwear rating!!
