My slip ring decided to break apart in the 5(F) temps this morning. If anybody has one made from 9/93 to 5/94 for sale, pt.# 32341162804, or knows where I can get a used one around chicago, I would be gratefull. Getting it new is a last resort. Thanks.

The round plastic dounut type thing that goes between the steering wheel and the steering column. It's what connects the airbag and horn to the column.
RealOEM (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HE63&mospid=47410&btnr=32_0884&hg=32&fg=35&hl=20) pt# 2
The outer casing on mine just shattered, and the subsequent drive home chewed the hell out of the connectors, while the horn randomly went off. At least I found out why my steering was so stiff in the cold.

The thought of the airbag randomly going off scared me out of fixing it with epoxy and solder, so if anyone has one of these lying around, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah this is always bad - my friend who has a custom built 930 Turbo (with 993 body) had his slip ring explode and it had ball bearings in it that actually locked his steering wheel up at an angle. I saw him plowing forward with the wheels cut/stuck to the right, thankfully only happened right after a toll booth and the car was fine.
