in Hawaii.

As a politically incorrect footnote.

As school children here we used to call this day "Slap a Jap Day"

Less than two weeks ago I attended the funeral of good friends father who was a veteran of WWII in the pacific. Not many of these guys left anymore, they should never be forgotten as they saved the world.
He was career Marine Corps, coincidentally now buried next to a young Marine killed in Iraq. He's looking after the boy now I suppose.
Such a tradgedy, so many young men die, over and over.

My Grandma's brother died in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII and my father's uncle continues to tell us some of his WWII stories to this day.

****ing amazing how the people of this planet manage to kill one another. ALL of the men in the previous generation of my family fought in WWII and my maternal grandfather in WWI. I narrowly escaped Viet Nam and now see the fresh graves of more recently killed.
War is worse than ever for this country because we are expected to fight as gentlemen against animals.
Whatever any of you here have to say you are able to do so because of frightened young men who gave all.
