Bob,

Got my gaskets from Malaysia today. Any advice?

there's a little oval plastic grommet on the edge of the door above the latch.

gently pry it off to access the slide that releases the outer cover. (I have a long screw driver adapted for this)

clean the years of crud behind the cover off

fit the new gasket

hold the cover/gasket to the door

pull the slide

put back the grommet

done

come by Saturday early afternoon and I'll help

might tackle the heater valves too?? Not that I need heat but it would be nice if everything worked like it is supposed to.

Thanks.

I can't seem to get the damn things off. I've even tried it with the door cards out. I'm obviously trying to move the wrong bit. Has anyone got a photo of the piece I should be sliding?

I think I can handle that. I'll have to come up with another project for Saturday. Transmission fluid change?

My wife is also in the tourist industry as tour guide, business is picking up again, as the Yen is so weak. Many vistors from Europe, China, USA.
So maybe a chance for you to get back here.

You can then join us on our wrenching weekends, where I have my E32 toys, 70 km outside of Tokyo near Tsukuba.

I'll send my wife shopping and we can fix cars.

Just like home.
