Hi. Is there any chip for the 98 528i like the ones available for E34s?

It's a flash-prom you have to load into your OBD-II-equipped car via devices like Jim Conforti's Shark Injector from Eurosport High Performance (http://www.sharked.com/chips.html). I don't think Mark d' Sylva of EAT (http://www.dsylva-tech.ca/) (linked at the top of this page, too) does these yet by mail-order but you may want to check with him, also.

I've got an e39, and i try to do most of my own wrench turning. However, i did have to bring it to the dealer a while back to get some suspension components replaced and 4-wheel alignment. One of the questions the service mngr asked was if i had added any performance software to the car. I was a little surprised since i was there for suspension work, but he explained that they can charge owners to have the car "re-baselined" to interface with their diag computers. He said it hasn't been a showstopper yet, but if you can remove the software perf mods prior to service (then add them back later) it makes things a lot easier when it's at the dealer. Just a thought if you're shopping different products, i think the product from JC does allow you to return the car back to factory specs pretty easily.
