I'm in the process of building another website. When I was in highschool (and there was no visual software, all code) I built several websites for friends and a website about Camaros (mainly first gen Camaros). I know everything about Camaros and built a website around that.

This year, I built a website for my Marine Audio company.

Now I'd like to build one that caters to the E34 and all the other BMWs out there. BUt mainly E34s

I'd like to hear some suggestions, maybe a few write-ups I can post on there. I'd like to design it and have everybody contribute to it. That way there is no one way of doing it, but different ways of doing the same thing.

Also, I plan on having a gallery of BMWs. It doesn't have to be just E34s, it can be any BMW, classic or modern.

Thanks again,

Justin Murray

PS. This is also a hobby and I plan on doing this for fun. I'm still looking for a place to host it so if anyone can point me to the right place with a lot of bandwidth and some e-mail accounts, LMK!

Hmm..there are quite a few BMW sites with forums and gallaries already. Not sure if there is market for another one. What will make your site different from the others.

I'm already thinking about it. I'm taking suggestions from the guys on bimmerforums also.

The website will be for other BMWs also. Not just the E34. I think that will be the part that sets it off.

This site, bimmerfest, bimmerboard include most BMWs not just e34.

Are you willing to pay for a hosting account, or are looking for a free one?

Heh, I figured I get some flames along with some useful comments. Anyway, like I said before, this is a hobby.

I was plan to make something for more then just the E34, if you had read my post, you would have read that.

This is really just for fun and to get more practice in on building websites.

I second that :D

If you are looking for web building opportunites - seek out some local churches, maybe a business or some other voulanteer organization that needs the help.

I think it is a good idea... But like previously stated, it needs to stand out from the others... I think there needs to be a site more deticated to the technical side of things. More articles/writeups and less deticated to forums. It needs to be well organized...say make a technical section for each type of e34 (540i 525i ect.) and one section w/ articles that will encompass all types of e34s. Just browse forums and when you find some factual useful tips/writeups/info save it and figure out a good way to organize it all. I hate searching forums for info about my 540i or my 325iX and just finding tons of irrelevent info and just a couple of good pieces. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks regal. I was looking at Fortunecity earlier today because my boss went thru them.

Edit: Wow they have great rates :)

I plan on that daniel. I'm in the same boat when it comes to searching forums.

Rather than another forum or do-it-all BMW site I think you should focus on unique content. How-to's/DIY articles FTW!

No suggestions on the website, but if you want some good, free web development stuff, I use the following:

- Notepad
- oh baby!

- Nvu HTML editor
- WYSIWYG, supports cascading style sheets, etc...

- Simple Search and Replace
- editing multiple html files

- Easy Thumbnails
- makes great looking photo resizes

- BulletProof FTP
- any function you could ever want, get a crack off astalavista.box.sk (um, you didn't get that from me, I bought mine officer...)

You can just google this stuff :)

Don't listen to the naysayers, if you have an idea, go with it!

Thanks.

I went thru Bigbluehosting. Thanks regal. Thier packages are the best priced and best featured I've ever seen. I'm in the final stages of design and will start publishing it in a wekk or two when I get more info then what I got now.

yeah, you cant beat the costs, I'm paying like 3.95 a month right now and it's way more than I need. I like the unlimited email and 50 cent sub hosting option.

Thanks.
