As I was closing my fuel filler door the other day after a fillup I hear a snapping sound and see a small black plastic piece about 1/2"x1/4"x1/4" fall on the ground. Now my filler door will not stay open or closed, it just flops between about half open and closed. Ive been looking on the parts diagram on realoem.com and my ETK program, and ive looked at the door itself, but I cant seem to figure out what part I need to replace. Im hoping i dont have to buy a whole new filler door.

I would appreciate any advice.

$14.00, and save the old spring and clip it all together

I replaced mine last month. The hinge is about $15 from the dealer.

Thanks for the replies guys, i'll order that part from the dealer on Monday. I just wasn't sure whether the piece that broke off was part of the hinge or something else.

Patrick at BMA has them for 10.50, and if you want to replace the spring as well its about 70 cents from them.

After I put the new hinge back, I don't know how to put the spring. It's shoudl be easy but I tried several position and they won't work. Any ideas? thanks.

It did turn out to be the hinge, ordered it from Yves at BMA, installed it a few days later. Man that thing was a pain to get off where it attaches to the body work, and the new one was a pain to get on. I ended up using a dremel to grind away part of the tabs that hold the hinge on.

Thanks for the help guys.
