No BMW stuff. Just a few snapshots from a 4 day driving trip down the Washington and Oregon coast.

Astoria Oregon looking towards the Pacific. That's the Columbia river in front and Washington St. across the way.

Looking towards Cannon Beach Oregon from the cape

http://home.comcast.net/~jsnord/pics/ot2.jpg

Ocean City beach outside of Tillamook. Yep - that's where they make the cheese.

http://home.comcast.net/~jsnord/pics/ot3.jpg

Last pic...Nope, didn't take the E34...took the spry (and underpowered) CR-V. Of course, 4wd does have it's advantages..

http://home.comcast.net/~jsnord/pics/ot4.jpg

The full resolution pics (5mp) are awesome...cutdown for fast loading here.

Highly recommended roadtrip for those of you looking for a place to visit and hang out..

Been meaning to hit the coast again, but I haven't had much time. I'm in Salem, so it's only an hour to Lincoln City for me, but I've never made the trip to Astoria.

Awesome pictures - I'm hoping to catch some of my own similar to that soon!

judging by chromatic abberation i would venture to say Canon S50 or G5... leaning toward S50 as I have the G5 and they don't look exactly the same.

S50. Impressive. Jon - show me how (where I suppose) to see the cromatic abberation.

contrast between the sea foam and water. Sonys are easy to spot too, they get grainy.

Damn Jeff, keep driving to Santa Barbara for Bimmerfest '04, May 1 2004.
There's "no other" event like it, or near as big!
Great pictures by the way!

Nice pics!!!
I'm planning a 4-6 week cross-country (and back) trip for this summer (exact dates TBD soon) in the E34, equipped w/ a Nikon D70 (and its 35mm brother the N75) :D

I've already begun to prep the 535i for the trip, it has new tires, and I tinted the winows (the less heat and theft prevention), and a satellite radio is getting installed in it soon, along w/ a long list of maintnance items.

I've already taken a trip like that once in my life and it's just awesome. I've also taken one in southern Africa in a Land Rover Defender 110.... but enough of my bragging... I'll be making a full post once I'm ready to hit the road. :)

Speaking of CR-V, I've driven a borroew one this weekend from NYC to Boston and back... man... it was almost painful... but it's a very lovely car otherwise, and I can't say many bad things about Hondas. :)

You should like the D70, I have a D100 here and love it. Primarily use my G5 though.

I think so too. I have a Nikon 24-120VR (f/3.5-5.6) lens sitting on my desk right now. :)
I might also opt for a wide angle lens before teh trip... gotta check the funds first.

It's hard to get a "wide" angle... i mean, realistically a 12 - 24 is really a ~24 - 38 or so
