How do you diagnosing/correcting windshield washer fluid pump?

# reservior is full
# I can hear the pump is running

But it won't pump the fluid on the windshield

A cracked hose is probably soaking your hood/bonnet insulation instead of spraying the windshield. Look for that. If that isn't it, pull the tank and remove the hose; run it and verify that it pumps. There's nothing magical or complex in this system -- use common sense.

the other thing to check is the nozzle end -- if the littel squirting orifice is gunked up then nothing comes out. if there is fluid present right up to the nozzle, and therefore nozzle is culprit, then gently use a sewing needle to see if you can free up the opening.

I had the same problem. Nozzle ends were blocked by car wax from the last owner. You need a very small needle. I just went to supermarket and got one of those green wire in the vegetable/fruit section.
