i have a 1992 gm transmission that was toast and found a 1993 transmission and would like to do the swap. any advice would be appreciated.

im trying to replace my transmission on my 1992 m50 and was wondering if a 1993 m50 automatic will work?

may i ask do i need to swap out the trans computer?

please let me know what are some important notes in this swap?

they are not a direct swap electronically, not sure if you can just swap the brain it may need the harness too which is fairly buried in the car, id find a 91-92 325/525 tranny and not need to screw with it, to use the 325 tranny just swap in your output flange, you don't usually even need to change the seal, otherwise it's a direct plug and play

that sux b/c i found a 93 transmission used for an ok price.......

is it impossible to retrofit it on a 92?

or should i just leave it????

i am sure it can be done just not sure how much work/parts it would take, if you need the tranny computer harness that's a bitch to change, it's under the carpet and console, personally i would find the correct vintage unit and not make extra work

no bump necessary. listen to winfred. if you can get that tranny at such a good price, buy it, flip it, and then buy the proper trans for your ride.
