View Full Version : OBC Retrofit problems

I have just tried and failed to retro fit an OBC into my E34. Removing the clock was a challenge but eventually I was holding it in my hand ...... and nothing broke!

Trouble is, I connected the OBC to the same connector and ........ nothing! No display, no lights - nothing. So I found Damien Bannon's excellent article on the OBC retrofit and figured out that I needed to get another 12V line up to pin 17 of the connector and succeeded doing this too.

Now all I get is an error message 'PPPP' and nothing else!

Am I missing something here?

Are you sure you have the right OBC? There are two I believe, one for the 520s and another for the 525s upwards - did your one come from a car similar to yours?

Javier, I already saw that link but thanks :)

Simon, I bought this one from Ebay as my car only had the analogue clock fitted and I fancied going hi-tech :D You may be right - I was told the OBC came from a 1990 530 but how do I find out which OBC is suitable?

Can all e34s install the obc? I tried it on my 95 model (with siemens dme) and all i get is the dreaded PPPP. I believe you need the gong and check control module for the OBC to work.???
