I was hoping that someone had the German version of the e34 535i. Many of the answers on this forum don't seem to apply to my car and i assume it is because of the difference between the European and the North American model.

my big problem is the lock synchronization procedure as described here and elsewhere. they instruct me to turn the door key past the 90 degree point in both directions. Mine won't go that far in either.

I also have other questions about parts.

Hope someone out there has the European model too.

ive got one, at least im pretty sure that australia got the euro model.

What do you need to know other than the lock syncro?

Mine are Uk market, right hand drive euro spec - my June '88 535i doesnt have any of the lock sync stuff at all, not even deadlocking - just regular'style car door locks..
Confused me a little when I got my blue 535i - December 1988, but that was enough time for BMW to obviously change the lock system - it has the deadlocks & stuff..
I've noticed that the lock sync thing (where the key goes past 90 degrees) only works on the drivers door (right side)...
Hope this helps..

I guarantee you that the lock sync works also on the German version.
I also have the EU version in Japan and it works too.
There is actually no German version for this, it is called EU version.
There are country specific items such as for Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia US etc., but not wirth regards to the lock synchronisation. And it also works on U.K. cars.
If you have any questions regarding a "German" spec car, just ask.

I have the same issue even on a US model. My lock cylinder doesn't go past 45 degrees in either direction. I also have the keyless entry module under the seat and the PO junked the remotes since they were broken from wear and tear before I bought it.

Thanks for the replies.

Although I have had this beauty for over 2 years with very little problem (it's pure joy to look at , let alone drive. Still very smooth and fast, zero body problems... very strange for eastern canada) I have a couple of issues.

Both versions of the lock re-synchronization procedure that I have found have called for a door lock to be turned past 90 degrees. neither side will do this even with the handles pulled up.

Also some parts that even the local BMW dealer has given up on.:

Wiper blades!

And seat belt components for the back seat (Our puppy went nuts) Even "Bavarian Auto Salvage could find them, They supposedly have 2000 Bimmers sitting there for parts. need Rear left belt itself and rear right latching mechanism.

emergency unlock: just lifting the handle up does not help sometimes, you have to wiggle it a bit to find the 'soft spot'.
I have a German language owners manual here and it describes the sytem exactly as the English version does.

re-sync: look at this pic

What is the problem with the wiper blades?

What is the problem with seat belts for the back seat?
Any part can be ordered by your dealer. Even for a German version, a Japanese version or ....
Just use your VIN or switch the parts catalog to EU version and then you find the part numbers.
