For those of you who burn a lot of software, movies, games and music... what Burning softwares do you like/dislike?
for video and music or do you use the same for both?
I saw Roxio has a new version out but it is 1gb in size, WTF?!

I have never burnt more than 10 cds in my life, so if I have to get software and learn, I want the right stuff;)

Thanks

the copy of nero that came with my last burner seems good, for movies i use dvdshrink it's a free download and works great, it will decode and compress a full dvd onto a single layer disc with little or no degradation of quality, it will do dual layer discs too but i don't have a dl burner

nero 6.6.0.8, yes its old but i have no reason to upgrade that i can see, and the entire nero directory set with all its other junk only takes up 86MB total.

When I had a PC, I always used Nero. With my Mac I use Toast, which is the closest thing to Nero, but still misses out on some options (at least with version 6).

Nero is lightweight, reliable and quick. Funny that Toast for the Mac is made by Roxio and is quite decent, tis a shame the same can't be said for their PC products.

... but prefer Roxio 9 (for all the features it has).

Toast Titanium on my Macs; v.6.0.3. And I'm especially fond of their CD Spin Doctor for ripping LPs (vinyl 33-rpm "records" for you youngsters) to MP3s.

I use Nero 7 Ultra Edition for 99% of my burns, and Alcohol 120 for those .mdf iso's.

I have always used Alcohol for images...

I am now downloading Nero 7.5.7.0 LITE, which has only the needed goodies... 46mb instead of 300-400 for the full version.

I am scared of the 1gb Roxio 9 though! I have lots of room... but it looks like it will take over my computer - and pictures, music, video.... everything is played through Roxio... not too sure if I want that!

I got DVDShrink, thanks Winfred!

I also got VSOConvertXtoDVD, good for changing .avi or regular video files into DVD format so you can watch on your TV.

If there are other goodies, please advise!

If there are happy users of Roxio 9, please let me know!

i use cdxp pro, which is freeware, does everything nero will do (except convert avi to mpeg for vcds and such). its free, and has a small footprint.

roxio has always sucked, i cant imagine that 9 fixed any of the problems that have plagued it since 4.0, but rather added more problems like all the other versions before it.
