Water pump

Are there specific symptoms of a bad water pump? My coolant temperature seems to be getting high lately. I replaced the MAF and cleaned the ICV a couple of weeks ago, but last week I noticed that the temp needle was pretty far over.

if you see it get high, turn the heater to max hot and the interior fans to 4 to help cool it down, lest you blow a headgasket.

the thermostat could be causing the overheating if it fell apart, and in that case id get a new metal impeller water pump as it could have damaged the old one.
