So I took oldest son for his 2nd time out in the car.
He is very confident and I have no need to be worried about his ability as he has driven Karts etc.
His first time out was in an industrial estate and I was impressed with his car control/ braking and such.
Driving Lesson #1
is for parents.
NEVER EVER DO THIS WITH YOUR PRIDE AND JOY!!!!!
Oh, and do we know any friendly wheel repair shops??

Its all ahead of you Greg. ;)

My 3 oldest all drove home from the motor registry the day they got their Learner's permits.

Admittedly in an automatic car, but gutsy nontheless.

The value of living on a farm with motor bikes etc etc. :D

Ouch Greg... I guess they weld em up and powder coat them again... no doubt they charge for the coating, I find a good thing to do is run on stockies and then call the powder coaters, ask when they are doing a colour you find acceptable. Take em down when they are and pay them in beer or cash or both. I had a set of 4 done for AU$50 once.

i learned to drive with a mercedes S class and a chevy tahoe, so i got to learn the boundries of the car very well before going to the smaller E34.

now the problem i have is learning how close i can get to the curb as i go around a right hand sharp turn.

what happened to that beautiful wheel makes me cry.

welll hoooollleeeyyy crap

is it bent? i'd have a hard time imagining that something with that much visible rash could be restored to decent (balance wise).

I'm going to pay a visit to Mr Sanderson to borrow some wheels (please!!) when I get this fixed.
I might get one of my front ones done as it has a small kerb rash as well.
I've heard there is a guy at Thornleigh that does these for about $50.

This costs less than fixing wheels.

My first car was a Chrysler New Yorker with lots of crunch zone and STEEL rims.

Get a 320i with steelies for the lad. And a Bentley manual.

Best of luck for him and patience for you,

fin

OUCHIE on the curb rash - I promise you, though, that your boy feels worse about this that you do!

My first car was a 1980 e21 320i. GREAT learner car.

My first car was a 1980 e21 320i. GREAT learner car.

After he did it he wanted to pull over, told him to keep going as the damage was already done and **** happens.
He'll be in the 318iS as soon as he can master a stick shift. I just wanted to give him time on the road.

My first car was a Mazda 1300, it was waiting at home for me when I got out of hospital after a massive bike prang - Ah parents, you gotta love 'em.

I learned to drive on my father's 1982 Ferrari Mondial. 3 point turns with no power-steering and a heavy clutch not much fun

Got the quote.
$250 to repair, but can't match the paint.
Probably be cheaper to buy a new wheel.
