Yes, he's one of the funniest people on the planet. He has a skit from a few years ago where his character keeps uttering he words "plane go boom".

Damn! Never seen that before- did it actually explode with fire or just burst from pressure or what?

I've got a good clean used pump- PM or email me for details.

those old style pumps do that, changed many like that it just breaks open and pukes all of the pressure into the tank

It happened to my pump as well (1990 535i). No pics of the split, but I was also quite amused at the way the top popped off the canister. I was lucky enough to score a new pump at BMA during a sale for $200.

LOL, Well we thought it may have been caused by the well over 110mph+ sprint Snakeyes and I had going up Hwy 249 in Houston to a friends party, [had quite a few things go wrong after the idler pully messed up a few belts :P] but i ALMOST feel better seeing that others have seen it before.

Guess there is a first time for everything :P

if you are interested.
I just replaced mine, suspecting that it is my problem. I open a topic about it ( http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=27089 ), but I found out the source of my problem just yesterday. It is unbelievable ..... anyway it is not the pump. I will post the solution soon (even with a pic.)

thin aluminum that's been drawn rolled and crimped holding back thousands of cycles of 40-50 odd psi while buzzing, who'da thunk it :D
