Having a friend check out a car Saturday in Oregon for me... if everything goes well, the end of the month will see me in another E34, albeit this time with an extra pair of cylinders and one more gear on the manual transmission.

Hey Tim

I am going to be moving to Bakersfield. When you take the new baby to Buttonwillow, you and crazy Kim can stay with me.

I was about to say, that's jfrankes' car.

He's never said a word of complaint about it.

And Tim: Don't put the Mille Miglias on that thing! rofl

Man and such a good price too. If I had the extra cash I would have bought it just for the drivetrain swap.

Where exactly is that? I'm down in Portland along with a few other buddies.

Oh no! WHere'd you find that, I'm jealous as all hell!
You need to tell me how much that cost you because I'm looking for a 540 locally, auto or stick IDC.
You're a lucky man! :D

Well, my buddy in Portland is checking it out for me today. :)

The price is right for the shape it's in, let's leave it at that.

I thought jfranke decided to keep it because he fell in love with it despite the salvage title and the bent frame issue. What did I miss?

The price is probably relative to the amount the frame got bent.:P:P

I think it's off by 13mm in one direction and 8mm in another. But apparently jfranke said that it drives perfectly straight.

Considering what I'd need to drop into the 5 to just get it back to daily driver status... I'd rather drop the extra and pick up his car, if it'll suit the same needs... then sell/part the 535i.

We'll see if it checks out, buddy of mine is looking at it for me in 12 hrs. :)

Go for it. Jfranke said there are no driveability issues whatsoever. He was just "psychologically" bothered by the fact that it has a salvage title. Apparently he's a perfectionist. I'd never accuse you of that :)

Well, I don't blame him... he wants a car to drop $$$ into, and that's not a salvage car's job. I want a nice daily driver, so it definitely fits that bill. It's not in perfect shape, but it's enough for what I want!

You must be a bawler to think 535i MPG wise is a good daily driver, and then to opt for the 540 right after. /praise

Haha... sorry, didn't mention I've been using my supercharged 318 as a daily driver... but with the coilovers/sparco Evo's/harnesses, it's not all that comfortable. :)

I've been gone a little while, huh? :(Eh whatever, i'd watch e36 track video........bring it. Hi Kim! *waves*
If the 535 was on the back burner, there it was.
Commin back pretty hard with 540/6 so no worries. I'm always a little envious of stick e34s.

No SERious sorrow here, the NX is the same car from the drivers seat really. Like a 2 vs. 4 door e30.......with T-tops. I've had NX brakes since 1999.

http://pavlo.interaccess.com/tednewbrake1.jpg

The intake/header/exhaust/motormounts/wheels and countless other bits are on their 3rd car. The NX is a little beater in appearance, but she's spotless under the valve cover @ 170K miles. Throw in 350W of Alpine and some JL thump, i pimp that thing daily.
Still have the engine from 'Jenny', think i'll tap the block for a turbo oil return line while it's easy *grin*. Oh and a pair of SER seats awaiting heat pad install *smirk*.

Oh, how u like this mess.

http://pavlo.interaccess.com/jerryX.jpg

JDM Silver-top 20V (~165hp), GC coil-overs, not an ounce of rust. WOOT. Needed absolutely nothing (xcept tunes). Bought it for a song. http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=151470
Begging for sticky-icky rubber.

Um so here's an interesting parallel, i don't drive the e36, Kelly does (unless it's both of us going, then.........hey i'm a crappy passanger, really).

http://pavlo.interaccess.com/042306kelliX24.jpg

Drives it well tho.........requirement of the 'lease' agreement.

Hope the road trip's fun. Stop in wine country for me and try some barrel samples. *GREEN*
