dreaded Trans Program

I was sitting at a redlight last night(luckily a block away from the house) when the dreaded ding was sounded and "Trans Program" flash on the screen.

the car limped home and when I fired it up this morning there was no problem and it drove a little sluggish, but drove at normal speed.

I've read some post on it this morning, but I have a question.

1.Is there a dipstick for the transmission for a 93 525iT wagon(automatic trans) and if so where? I couldn't locate one by sight or by looking in the manual.

When was your last tansmission service? A weak battery can cause the trans program. also, you may not have a dipstick on that year.

Do a serious search in the archives. There are several example of how others have dealt with this issue before spending the big bucks.

you probably have the filler on the trans pan. search for filling procedure or the like.
