is bmwe34.net correct about not connecting -ve terminals on stereo?

this doesn't really make sense to me, as the adaptor harness that connects to the bmw portion has negative wire connections. is this true? thanks.

This is true for the older style radio without a harness. The newer style with the big black plug will have the negative connections.

Mine did not work with the negatives connected on my 9/95 build date
