At school today, theres a 525 where every piece of silver trim (at least exterior, didn't check interior window trim) was gold color, even the ****ing locks on the doors, grill, "525i"
Was this standard, it's ugly as ****, and I know it's some unapreciative woman driving it too...

I've never come across anything like this before, either in real life or realoem.com

Reminds me of the premium Lexus has been charging its customers for gold badging....

*Puts on flame proof jacket just in case*

The standard of driving performed by most lexus drivers, they deserve to get shafted in some way :/

I always wondered in manchester how half the people in local govt provided free housing could afford to drive lexii. Most of them have horrific bodywork scrapes as well - they just dont care.

</rant>

Anyways, moving swiftly onwards, I wonder if it was a special edition or some ricer having a play?

Sounds like "dealer installed option". There used to be quite a market for the gold package- some folks even bragged that it was real "24k gold plated". Basically they would remove all the bright silver trim, plate it gold, then reinstall it and add $$$$$ to the sticker price for the beauty of it all!!

I still see this alot on Camry's and like cars, but not so much on BMW's anymore.........

Was there a little New Orleans crown on the dash under the rear view mirror? Sounds like a french qtr package ;)

ON topic.....gold trim rarely looks good...perhaps on pearl white. But never after the third year on the car.....degrades so nasty.:(

There are companies that will come to your house with a gold plating bath and "bling" up anything you want.

There was a craze for doing car badges a few years ago (especially on MR2's) so maybe that's what happened here?

That's an insurance claim waiting to happen...
