Hey all,

I just bought a set of second hand staggered OEM E34 M Parallels to replace the replica E38 M Parallels that I have on my M5 at the moment. The E38 wheels are the wrong offset, and because my car has been lowered, they rub against the guard during "spirited" driving.

I really like the polished finish of the E38 wheels though when compared to the painted dull silver of the E34 wheels, so I'm having the wheels done up a bit, the lips will be polished, and the centres will be painted. The only question now is what color do I paint the centres?

I have 3 choices, either a bright silver, or body color (Macau Blue) or Gloss Black. I seem to remember someone else here painting a set of MPars black a few months back, but I've been searching for the past hour and can't find the post, does anyone have a link?

Any suggestions on other colors to consider? Any pictures?

Thanks heaps for your help

I believe the E38 wheels have a machined finish face...You could paint the interior of the face silver, and do a machine finish on the face. Then polish or do the machine finish on the lip.

We had our M-System's lip done in the machine finish by Ye Olde Wheel Shop. Definitely prefer the look compared to polished.

It would look more like Original E38 wheels that way.

It's not really Blue, Macau Blue is more like a really dark purple

I am a huge fan of the silver with the machined lip, but they are your rims you should do what you want.

Silver and machined lip!

Macau probably looks great (never seen in person), but I think it will give the car a ricey feel rather than the classy look it deserves ;)

Yep, I've pretty much decided on a metallic silver with a machined lip. Thanks for all of the tips guys!

Just a local mob here in Melbourne called Ace Alloy Wheel Repairs. They have a pretty good reputation

Very nice...One recommendation, this comes from experience, don't bother clearcoating the bare metal. In most events it won't hold up, will eventually bubble and shed it's clear.

Hey guys,

I got my wheels back on Friday, and had them fitted to the car. They look fantastic:

Looking good.

Did you end up just having the lips polished?

Only thing I'm not diggin' is the jeweled sidemarker.
