Everytime I corner with any degree of G-force or accelerate from first to second, something which sounds like a loose screw rolling on a plastic surface rattles inside the HVAC console of my E34. Recently, the same sound is also heard in the dash compartment behind the steering wheel.

I have recently dismantled the driver's side underdash panels and installed a clutch stop but don't see how this should create the sound.

Could this just be a worn or loose HVAC flap which flops around? It definitely sounds metallic against plastic although I cannot see the source of this sound. There are no missing or loose screws that I know of.

I doubt it could be the flaps, they would have to be very fubared. Does it do that sound with the heat/ac in different positions? maybe something fell down the defrost and is inside the system.
