Hey everyone,

Maybe I'm the only one around here, but I'm curious as to how many of you have E34/BMW/Anything else related desktop backgrounds!

My reasoning: Felt a sudden urge to get an E34 background, and had a difficult time finding a high enough resolution shot, so was very proud of myself when I found this GREAT photo of an even GREATER looking vehicle!

So share away! (Press the Prt Scn button then paste into paint and save as JPEG before attaching)

Here's mine:

The skin I'm using is called Royale Vista and is for the WindowBlinds software.

Tension Powered!! I run dual 21" screen but usually the second monitor is just for my TV tuner/Direct TV piping through so I left that side out. The skin used is GT3 in Windowblinds 5, and you can barely see it in the right corner, but I have a fade-in real-time info bar called Rainmeter running as well. Left the original image in its original size so I could make out my desktop icons.

I'm currently using the theme 'Royale Noir (http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/142770/royalenoir.rar)'
It is a 'hidden' media center theme somebody found recently, it's Microsoft signed, so you can use it without any skinning programs.

BTW...I dislike all skinning programs, and have a cracked uxtheme.dll so I can use 3rd party themes w/o skinning programs.

Other favorites of mine: A longhorn one that looks very similar to Royal Noir, and I really like the plain XP silver one.

Nice! It seems you enjoy anything superfast that can carry a few passengers! :p

My wallpapers are usually all BMW/Fast car/Aviation related. My last one was the Versace Murcielago (drooool).

Conveniently, todays pic is my car!:

If you have OS X installed, press:

Cmd-#

or

Cmd-Shift-3 (Using the 3 on the top row)

There will be a file on your desktop named Picture1, that's it.

I'm using a dual-head Mac (two screens with desktop spanning), that's why it looks like two images stuck together. The white rectangle at the bottom is there because the screen on the right (laptop screen) is a lower resolution than the one on the left.

To take a screenshot, press ⌘-Shift-3. If you have two screens connected to your Mac, the screenshot will appear as two files, Picture 1.jpg and Picture 1(2).jpg

Here is my desktop screenie:
http://users.on.net/~acherion/screenie_20061126.jpg

This is my new MacBook Pro Core2Duo connected to my 17" LCD. It's in desktop spanning mode, but the desktop on my MacBook Pro is uninteresting, so I have only posted my 17" LCD screen here.

Yes, that is Windows XP running in a window. Makes it look quite insignificant when running in OS X :) The install CD I borrowed from my dad to install XP on my Mac was SP1, so unfortunately I am wasting more time updating to SP2.

Macs are so goddam sexy! I'm gonna ditch Windows and get a MacBook Pro early next year - it'll help to keep my lap warm.

What's that Jupiter widget thing in the middle of the bottom task bar (or whatever it's called)?

that's just about the nicest app I have downloaded, ever. It is a 3D simulator of the galaxy with super high rendering capabilities called Celestia...it is 100% freeware and there is an awesome community of folks that write plug-ins for it. In fact, next week I'll be using it for the second year in a row to teach a class on Astronomy at my daughter's school.

get the program here http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

appreciate it here http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/

What is Connect 360? Does it connect your Mac to your XBox 360? Also, what hardware are you running? Intel build or are you still old sk00l with PowerPC? I just got rid of my old PowerBook G4 and it's taken me a little getting used to this new machine, but it is much, much faster and powerful than the old one.

Also, your Dashboard is quite interesting :D Can't say mine is that cluttered, mine looks pretty spartan in comparison. I do occasionally whip out Scenario Poker for some Texas Holdem though. Considered using coconutBattery widget rather than that ugly Duracel-looking one?

pingu, the bottom taskbar thingo in Mac speak is called the Dock, just FYI.

Yeah mate, Connect 360 is the answer for all the XBOX 360- Mac owner woes. Lets you stream music, vid, and pic...just like Media Player Eleven ("dorks"). Anyway, to answer your question, I'm still running old school, but it's just that these things feel so good the more worn in they get. I mean the graphical **** I pull off with this--most basic of macs---just blows away everything other than a newer one. It's hard for me to let go of this one, and I tend to run em until they are goosed! Still, this one is starting to bog down, and Taylor (daughter) has been asking for it more and more. Plus, there is a new version of Celestia that requires really mean graphical abilities. So, a new one is definately on the not too distant horizon. My biggest problem is that I love the ibooks so much...I really prefer the plastic of the shell and the screen to thin metalish feeling of a Macbook Pro. I maintain my mother's Macbook Pro, and I have an old powerbook G4 that I use for billing.--it's just not the same. Maybe I'll get one of those new 13" black ones! LOL

BTW, I like that battery widget, it's just like my Mac..."it keeps going, and going, and going....";)

That's pretty cool with the Connect360, unfortunately the last (and first) console I ever got was a PS1, and I didn't even buy it -- it was a hand me down! I like the interface of Windows Media Center edition, but I gather it's more complicated than Apple's Front Row.

Old school is still good, as I have mentioned before sometimes the old hardware is hard to let go, the Intel Macs are quite a different machine -- I found myself trying to get rid of any PowerPC-only applications that I needed and to see if there were any updates available. It's weird cos I loved PowerPC Macs, yet when I upgraded to Intel hardware I found myself trying to eradicate any remnants of it!

I still have an old Power Mac Quicksilver 733 downstairs connected to the router, its sole purpose is to download torrent files. It's a very stable machine, and is controlled from my MacBook Pro via Apple Remote Desktop -- goes to show PowerPC and old-school are still good :)

The MacBooks are a very tasty alternative :D People complain about how they're not as small as the 12", I never understood the 12" form factor, I have trouble with small screens like the ones at ATMs and such, but I guess each to their own. A black one with a glossy screen would go down very well :P

I have myself an Asus S6F notebook which has a nice petite 11.1" screen, took about a week to get used to it, but now I'm perfectly fine using it. I appreciate the small footprint above anything else.
