Now I always thought that this would be difficult without keyless entry....But

I witnessed my wife sucessfully lock the keys in the car.

1. She gets out and chases the kids out of the car.

2. She leaves one of the passenger doors open.

3. Locks the car at the driver's door with the keys.

4. Grabs a package off the back seat and drops the keys on the seat.

5. Closes the door...

6. Walks up and says "Ohh I locked the keys in the car".

At least it wasn't at the mall with the little one stuck in the child seat.

My wife did this last year- thankfully, in our driveway. It was here RAV4 and she started the car to warm it up and came back in. Of course when she went back out she realized she had locked the doors. The car has an aftermarket alarm, and we have an extra remote, but of course the extra remote had no battery in it. I tried to wire a spare 9 volt battery to it, but that didn't work. I then arranged 2 "C" batteries in series and wired to the remote. No go. I tried 3 and then 4 batteries in series holding everything together in my hands so nothing slipped out of place and finally got the thing to work (while my wife was on the phone with the locksmith). She was quite impressed with my McGuyver capabilities. ;-)
