That scene was the reason I bought the DVD. And it's so much better to watch on DVD than a pixelated youtube site, trust me!

i read somewhere that they used 520s because they had to wreck so many... they forgot the body kit in the 'm5' transformation though

looks like the only m5 bits were the turbines and possibly the rear badge. some yellow headlights woulda been cool too. awesome scene though

I'm glad it was a fake M5!

I did notice when the E34 tire was shot out they showed a basketweave with a deflated tire, not a turbine.

I'm not sure about the 520i thing that you guys are talking about, apparently according to the extra features on the DVD, the M5 rolling scene where it's just about to fall off the constructed bridge was only done once.

They rolled the car as a stunt, but what happened is that the car ended back on it's wheels again (gotta love E34s! they get back up on their feet even when they're down!), but they had second thoughts on reshooting with another E34 so they just cut the scene where the car was on it's roof and left the bit where it lands on its wheels again on the cutting room floor.

Surely if they had an abundance of 520i's that they would have done the scene again.

I liked this documentary bit on the DVD as it showed how they did all the driving stunts in the movie. They used RHD cars (Robert DeNiro called them "dem cars from England") and made a mock-up dash and steering wheel for DeNiro to play around with while the stunt driver was the guy with balls flogging the car around in inner Paris :P
