I just removed this wheel from an E28 535. It looks very similar to the M-tech I wheel but does not have the M emblem on it. It has the fine splines and looks like it would fit the E34. Any ideas? thanks.

Had the same wheel on my E28 535is (duh! since it was an E28 :)). It's not an MTech I as they have the little ridges next to the horn buttons at the 3 spokes.

So, to answer your question I don't know, but it's not an MTech I, probably just the standard non-sport wheel for E28's, maybe early non-US E34's?.. :p

I figured that, too. It still looks pretty sport IMO.

That's a standard E28 "Sports" wheel. Had one of those on my 520i. See http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=4052&mospid=47211&btnr=32_0572&hg=32&fg=35

was it something you would get with a sports package?

that's the sport steering wheel I had on my 1985 325e. The standard wheel was a four spoke, and the sport version was that 3 spoke.

that was a fun car...

AFAIK, that is an E28 wheel, not sure if it was considered 'sport' at the time.

A 'sport' steering wheel that is not M-tech at all would be one that's in my car:

thats a nice wheel. Was OEM on the first non airbag e34 as well as e30/e28 cars.

Same one in my GF's 325i. It's what convinced me I needed an M-tech wheel.
