how difficult is it to replace the fuel line on a 1990 525i cheers

rubber hose? fairly easy just make sure what you get is rated for fuel injection, parts store dummys don't always know to ask and carb fuel line doesn't hold up more then a few months to the high pressure, get new clamps too as some of the bmw clamps are "one time use" that and they suck for strength and strip easyly

Not too hard if you can get your hands in to pull off the hoses. You can run the car and pull the fuel pump fuse to empty out some of the fuel from the system. Still have towels ready though.

If you are talking about the hard lines. It is a major PITA. I recently did my 95 540. Replaced the completed fuel hard lines with 5/16" SS tubings. See link below,
