Our 7 series is getting new lights so we will have a set of HID soon. However I do not know what temp they are. I've looked forever on both websites and in the car itself and cannot find a number. It does say they're H1 however.

Would anyone happen to know the HID temp for a stock 2000 740iL? I need to know if I want to use those or a different temp.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...I don't know. I'd guess 4300.

That was my guess, around the 4100-4300 range. Just hoping someone could confirm.

4300K is the brightest HID to buy. 5000 and higher are not as bright but more bluish and purplish.

I am aware of that. I drive at night so little that I'm wanting more color over sight. I'm trying to use the 7 series HID as a comparison to what I might want. I'm thinking 6000k is the way to go. I dont want ridiculous blue, but a nice tint would be neat.

5000k is probably what you want. Even the 7-series has a nice blue tint.

4300k is what you'd like. The blue/purple tint in stock HIDs is not from the main source of light, but rather the refraction at cutoff. If you want it a bit prettier, then 5000-6000k will have it sparkle like a jewel without sacrificing much usable illumination.

Thanks guys. Pictures of HID tints on the internet never do justice, thats why I asked. :)
