door stuck closed

how the hell does one get a rear door open if it wont unlock or open? my dad just bought a 535im and we cant get one of the doors open.

sorry if it was covered before .. search finds a lot of irrelevant stuff.

take off the door panel if its possible and try to pull the latch open? not sure if this possible or not...
