Just curious if any of you guys have tried doing your own 0-60 test? I tried with my buddy in the passenger seat a few months ago, using the OBC timer. The first time I got a mega awesome launch, but it threw him back in the seat so he missed the start button. Second time was a decent launch, I think OBC read like 7.6sec.

Mine is a little under 8. Keep in mind that these cars arent really built for 0-60 runs.

to drive past 55, or 25 in a school zone.

Oh of course, I know this... just curious if anyone else ever happened to try.

I have test the 0-100km/h twice

The first test was with the use of OBC and 8.4 sec was the best attempt

The second one was with the use of this equipment http://www.gtechpro.com/prod.html and the results for 0-60M/h where 7.9 secs

Michael999

I got 10.8secs, uphill, in economy, just foot to the floor till 100kph
I checked rear vision mirror and could barely see the other 50ppl from the lights.

There arent really any straight flat roads near me that dont have speed cameras or traffic that i can test it on :(

Slow.

But what the test of time from 1989-2006...? Not many automobiles can endure that.

i timed mine a few times, actually i took a video of the dials and then timed the video, much easier... can't remember the exact time but it was just under 8 seconds to 96km/h (60mph), with the eat chip... not bad for a heavy car with a 4 speed auto

My manual tells me my 90 535 auto does 9.3. The 525 is so close its not funny. I was kind of dissapointed when I read that because it feels a bit faster and stock 4.0L 6's aussie made do about 7 or 8 stock, so as much as I hate to say it, they are a bit faster. BUT not after 16 years they aint!

they arent that bad are they.I think the manual state high 7's for the manual gearbox 535

When I interpolated my quarter mile run, it came out to about 7.7 to 60 in my 525i

The manual is incorrect. Those of us here with 535ias are getting significantly faster time than that, and these cars are 15 years old!!

Im guessing that they geared the 525i differently so it could have more off the line grunt.

How do you get the OBC to time your 0-60?

A good 0-60 requires a good launch, and I never launch my car off the line. Too much at risk for very little reward.

Don't get me wrong. I wring my car out all the time. But I never hard launch it. With 160,000 miles on the drivetrain, a new clutch and 235-series tires, that'd just be asking for trouble IMHO.

heres mine on vid. I did this coming back from my test drive today. No launch just pedal 9/10 to the floor. Not bad for a stock 530ia with problems i think... 60mph is right at 9 seconds from dead stop/no launch

Ooh, that's the first time I've really heard the 3.0 V8 in anger. Sounds loooovely. Not like my six at all (which is also nice, but lacks that V8 burble -- sounds more like a turbine).

Damn the 3.0 has so much better acceleration after 60 then my 2.5 :(

I received 5.5s to 60mph using a Gtech and with snow tires 2.5 yrs ago. Added a better chip and cam gears since. Not bad for a 525i, lol. That reminds me I have to retest.

Agreed. I've never done a hard launch since I bought the car, and even with a slow start it's still pretty easy to overtake almost any car on the road after we're moving about 10 km/h.

It counts in whole seconds, but when you stop it it shows fractions of a second.

I'll have to break out the GTech SS again ;) Though I like to light up the tires so much that the 0-60 will be garbage... like the tires. Probably get a new set next year and move to 18s... wife pending approval :(
