M.A.F. Rebuild

So, My mechanic said the reason my car runs like crap right now is because my MAF has gone sour. I think he said its the Air Temp Sensor.
He told me they can be usually be rebuilt...
Has anyone attempted this?

Is it costly?

What procedure is involved?

Would it be cheaper to buy a new one? (I can get one for 451$ CND shipped)

They are made by Bosch. Go to Bosch (if you have such a shop in Canada), they are cheaper than BMW or online shops, they sell them remanufactured.
