leaking differential

Hey guys,

I am a new bmw owner, I just purchased a 1993 525 it. The differential seems to be leaking where the left side axle shaft attaches. Is there a seal in there that can be changed. Any Hints or diagrams would be helpful as I do not have a manual yet.

There do appear to be seals on the output shafts. diagrams are located at www.realoem.com You should be able to get an exact part number from those diagrams.

There is a seal, check www.bmwe34.net for a writeup procedure with photographs that shows the process. Changed mine out 8 mnths ago, used the Lisle seal puller tools which was a great help. Change both seals since you have to get under there and refresh the diff oil.
