Hi guys,Just after a little info about the alarm system...Found by accident that there is a factory alarm fitted to my 1993 525i. Part number 82-11-9-418-407
Only had this bmw since april..I found I can turn on the system in the engine bay..and the led on the dash starts to flash ect..and alarm sounds when the door is opened..problem being does this system need a remote key fob or something similar....car came with set of keys...no remote...and as far as I know its not keyless entry...it has central locking ect. At this stage I can turn the system on and off at the actual alarm in the engine bay...but dont really understand how it is all supposed to work :-(
Trying to find out if any bits are missing.. or how the whole system works
Thanks in advance

not sure on the slightly later cars but the alarm omn my 1990 car is set when you deadlock or double lock the car ie turn the key as far as possible in the locking direction which you may find is 90 deg further than you expect. The car is now deadlocked(ie the door pins cannot be lifted by hand) and the alrm is set.
