after you pull away? This may seem a stupid question, but I really have no idea. On most modern cars, when you pull away, at a fixed speed, the central locking locks the doors. Do the E34's do the same?
I've got a servo of some sort energising behind the dash, near the drivers door (this is a RHD car), every time I pull away, for a few seconds ... probabally at around 10 or 15 mph (never really checked exact speed), but nothing else seems to happen. I was wondering if it's not a system to auto-lock the doors when under motion?
Any coments?

My '90 525i auto auto-locked. My '92 525i manual doesn't. Go figure.

I guess you can make this yourself? If you can get a relay to work when you are driving?
If you're able to get a pulse when you are driving 15mph or so...

My 1995 525i doesn't do this, my friend's 2001 E46 320Ci does.

It's an option on my aftermarket alarm... standard on the 1.8T Passat I had.

we have decided the noise at 15mph is the adv system,ie the sytem that puts pressure on the wipers.Does it seem to come from the rh side of the dash?
my 1990 535 doesnt auto lock at a certain speed

Yeah, it's the right hand side of the dash. I don't know the exact speed at which this occurs (haven't tested it yet for sure), but when I pull away, say after about 2 or 3 secs of normal driving, before I even change to second gear, I hear what sounds like a motor or actuator, running for about a second, then stops. I was just wondering what it could be. I don't have a wiper pressure system, that I know of.:(

I quess the S47 switch is closed while the the doors are unlocked... So when you break the contact (and keep it open) all the doors lock? Or am I wrong?

well if its a whirring kind of sound ar quite a low speed ,then you hear a similar sound when you turn off thats what it is.
