View Full Version : 535i , installing o2 sensor

Im havning i hard time getting at the o2 sensor with the rachet and special o2 sensor socket, there isnt even enough room to get the socken and wratchet around the old sensor. on e34.net it says no piece of exhaust needs to be removed?


any tips what sort of u joints or extensions should i use.

I have a stubby 22mm(?) wrench that makes this task comparatively easy. Without the stubby wrench, consider lowering the front pipes from the exhaust manifolds & the support brace to the gearbox.

I just took mine off. Seems simple once you have had to do it a few times!

I say screw that dirty PIA job, take it to a mechanic, pay him and be done with it. That's what I did.
Even when you do figure out how to get on it, there is no gaurantee it's even going to budge. Mine was cooked into the exhaust.
