Battery Location for 92 520i (M50)

I want to know if the batteries for the 520s are really located in the engine compartment unlike most e34s wherein their batteries are located inside the car either under the front seat or at the rear seat. I have an m50 engine, 92 model. I wanna make sure if this is the right setting for my car or if i need to place it where it is rightfully is...

Can anyone who owns a 520i or anyone knowledgeable confirm this?

There are E34s with batteries under the front seat? Must be either be one of those flat, "pancake style" batteries, or the special-order "bus seat" option with a glass bubble in the roof for your head...

If your battery is in the engine compartment, and it's on the factory tray with the factory mounting hardware and wiring, then that's where it belongs.

Hi Pjong, I myself own a 90 model 520i 24V non-vanos. The battery is located in the engine compartment. For the later 520i models, I would guess those with vanos onwards, the batteries were relocated to the rear seat area.

The way I think it is: if you don't see the battery in the engine compartment it's under the rear seat on the right hand side.

a friend of mine had a 1991 build 520i. the battery was under the rear seat. im in australia if that makes any difference cheers

mine is a saloon '93 520i M50 and my battery is under the rear seat.
