DIffrence in suspension from 89-90 to 91+ 525i?

What is the diffrence in shocks from a 1989 build date M20 525I to a M50 build 525I? Are the shocks interchangable? I would assume because of a possible weight diffrence, the shocks are valved diffrently, but any ideas?

Reason I ask, is that I am offered a great deal on shocks from a 92 525I and according to diffrent catalogs, they had diffrent applications fo r the model.

Sorry can't help with the valving but I think you will find that the strut tops are different between the model years. The actual hole size in the strut top is different.
