The ones in mine are 5", maybe 5.5"
But when i was looking in the space and im quite sure that some 6" and 6.5" speakers would fit down there, but you would need to try a few to get one with a magnet that doesnt stick out too far.
6" will you give you much nicer bass than the 5".

Ah right 5.25" it must be then thanks for the replies :)

I might end up cutting the ridge inside the kick panel as it sticks out and often fouls the rubber edge of speaker cones... anyone whos replaced them will know this pain in the ass !

to the right Ohms

Would would be the right impedance for me?

Another thing ... lots of speakers seem to be quoted in centimetre size ... 5.25" is 13.33cm so can anyone confirm if a 13cm speaker fits ?

Can you tell I dont know much about audio lol

Many thanks
Rory

As angrypancake said, they're 5.25"". I fitted some Infinity Perfect speakers - you have to cut a hole in the kick panel but this is really easy as on the back of the kick panel there is a moulded circular ring. Simply cut out the plastic grill from inside the circular ring and you can fit the speakers through the kick panel.

Infinity Reference 5.25" fit nicely in my 1989 535i (m34) kick panels. Minor snipping required at the bottom of the speaker on the drivers side but no big deal. Kenwood 4channel amp completed the project. Sounds awesome.

Fairly sure they're 5.25" as standard - although my white one never came with any at all I've learned through experience that 8" 'subs' will fit in the kickpanels relatively easily - and oooo they sound tasty! :D

5.25" in the kicks and 2.5 - 3.0" in the dash. I have 6.5" MB Quart Q in the kicks and 4" mid drivers MB Quart Q in the dash - whew talk about effort.

I'd have to take my kick panels out - not really motivated to do that. I made custom mounts - it wasn't the most fun I've ever had.

Jon- 4" in the dash? How much work did you have to put in to acomplish that, was it worth it?

Any write up or is it straight forward?

It took a lot of dremeling and I had to cut into the ducts that do the left and right side front air vents. It was a pain - definitely worth it though. I have 6.5" kicks, 4" mid range and 1" tweeters. They are all MB Quart Q-Series and the tweeters are in the factory position I epoxied them in place.
