in Salt Lake City (note that location) a number of years ago, the government was attempting to shut down an adult video store. The defense was stumped because the community standard of decency there (that the jury was supposed to rule on) was obviously likely to be against the store. But one day a defense attorney had a light bulb go on over his head while he was looking across the rooftops of the city at all the satellite dishes. He subpoenaed the cable company pay-per-view records and the defense easily won the case.

Bill,

As many have stated, and I agree, we're all glad you're a member here. But I have to admit that the political posts on the E34 board are a bit much, especially when Ed created the OT board especially for politically oriented BMW folks like yourself. If anyone wants to get involved in campaigning or debating, I have no problems with it as long as they keep it to the OT board. I just would rather not have to sort through it on the E34 board.

Grace and peace,

post the occasional political post .. but as you have noticed i don't do it very often, i typically stick to the ot section.. I thought that this particular post might have some crossover interest though.http://www.bimmernut.com/%7Ebillr/images/OTstuff%20copy.jpg

I will debate something with you Robert...and that is, you should learn the same lesson as the poster yesterday that criticized Ryan for his grammar of all things. Including the despicable rejoinder from the anonymous poster that mentioned pettiness. Both postings are a case study in pettiness. The lesson is tolerance and deference. Robert, you don't get it any more than the poster did yesterday. There are a handful of people that try and thanklessly contribute to this forum out of passion for these cars that makes it what it is. I count myself in this group and there are many others that really make an effort to distribute knowledge to the BMW community by using this board as a suitable forum. Ryan, though a relative nubbie and in a steep learning curve is a pretty quick study and puts forth an effort. Bill on the other hand is in a whole different stratosphere. His knowledge transcends other posters. With all of Bill's contributions which cannot be distilled into a single thread, for you to cast any aspersion if he wants to post an occasional OT political thread....frankly I am insulted for Bill. It is comments like yours and the poster yesterday that really detract from the fellowship of this board which should be a common bond among BMW enthusiasts. There isn’t any room for acrimony or dissent. If Bill wants to post OT and use half the band width on this board, I give him free purview. After all, Bill makes this board.

War on Alcohol... War on Drugs... War on Guns... and now War on Porn

Basically, if you look at the track record, NONE of these "wars" have worked, and in fact, have greatly added to the problem, especially in regards to Prohibition. When will these people learn to stop trying to meddle in other people's lives?

runup to the election. Powerful media companies who in effect own all politicians (having bought and paid for them like sacks of potatoes) will not stand by and have their ox seriously gored. When all is said and done, posturing notwithstanding, our government always does what's best for the people (the people who own large corporations.)

Personally, I wish they would ditch the SOFT porn on cable. If they're going to show people having sex, then they should make it convincing and real. Maybe it's a misguided form of population control.

We're currently bringing in quotes for a Global Penetration Test. Guess we'd better be careful that we don't run afoul of the Puritans in this administration!

...that's a lot of big words for you. Did you have help with that response? I checked out that post from yesterday that you refer to and it never mentioned anything petty, just some constructive criticism that some could not take or appreciate.

See you haven't lost your zest for posting your thoughts......not it's bad....kinda enjoy your flames...LOL

Yepper, Bill can do what ever the h$ll he wants....he is the man.

Can see Ashcroft being a teenager at the high school dance......poor schmuck. His life is miserable so he's going to get us life loving happy people back.

Make love not war.

better reread the thread Callen....the flames that were written were the initial criticism of Bill for posting his occasional OT "which I defended."
At least we agree that Bill should be given broad diminion because of his status here.

OT = off topic. You can skip over them. I read them if I have the time whether I believe what the poster has to say or not. Makes for an interesting break during work.

This forum needs to be viewable over a cell phone so I'll have something to do during meetings.
