Hi guys, my car runs a stock getrag 535i G260 box and it has taken some amazing abuse for years. I recently got hold of a genuine heavy duty Getrag 290/5 from an Alpina B10 bi-turbo as an insurance policy as I will be turning up the wick on my car soon and I fear the 260 will die. I am amazed at how much stick the G260 can take but am looking forward to fitting the 290/5.
The question was about the fitment. As far as overall dimensions, I believe its the same as the 260 and 280's (M5).
The main thing I need to understand is the input spline. I currently have a custom clutch built around the 260 box and my clutch disc has a spline to suit the 260. Does anyone know if the 290/5 has the same size input shaft, or if its bigger?
