Sounds good. Did you do a little tuning today?

Finished bolting the turbo up today and fabbing my last intercooler pipe... I actually tried starting the car for the first time at 9:30 tonight and it started right up. Idling at 1100 rpm so I need to close the throttle body a little bit, but yeah first try ;)

the diesel that the turbo came from may be twice the size as your motor but it only spins at half the speed, the 12 valve b series cummins are governed at around 3k, so the ultamate airflow is not that drasticly different

"Wasted spark" that means you have 3 coils, and igniting 2 sparkplugs at the same time? Wouldnt that cause a backfire?

winfred

only if there was a burnable mixture avalable

Winfred is correct - although 2 cylinders are sparking at the same time, they are at opposite points in the combustion cycle - one is compression and one is exhausting.

What if you have residual gases left over, could that cause problems?

Sounds intimidating.

winfred

that would take a pretty good failure to happen, as theres no 02 to burn any remaining fuel if there was any

As long as the intake valves are closed in both firing sylinders it would be ok I guess

Yeah, I thought Jon K went with wasted spark to be sure no Hydrocarbons were coming out of that engine.:) I also thought it was strange that he would mount a catalytic converter before and after his turbo but hey . . . that's why his car is :D green:D .

Seriously though, there must be a little extra wear on the spark plugs for firing them twice as often. Anything noticable? My v8 Rover is wasted spark but it's such a dirty engine I wouldn't be able to tell.

Catalytic converter before and after the turbo? What are you talking about?

Sounds solid Jon, well done. I'm quite abit older than you and will probably go for a sleeper quiet exhaust on my turbo car.
What are the componets you plan on finishing up your exhaust from the downpipe back ??

I plan to just use a $20 summit racing turbo muffer and 3" straight and mandrel bent tubing.

Sounds loud now but again now muffler. Are you going to use the resonator before the muffler? How loud do you think it will be in the car? It does sound healthy. Great work. I am thinking of the TCD stage two for mine or find a good 03 e39 M5.
