Vintage racing is great. Watkins Glen is a classic circuit.
You will not regret it. Just about every form of racing car is represented at these events, most all of the owners and drivers are pleased to answer questions and let you look all you want.
I haven't attended this event but most will also offer a "touring" session where you can drive the track in your road car.
Go to the tourist info center and obtain a map of the old street circuit and take the drive on it.
Vintage races are predominantly frequented by true race fans, the crash happy knuckledraggers stay away and the spectator cars are nearly as interesting as the race cars.
Go there!

I'll be there. Let me know if you end up going.

I have not been to this particular event before, but I've been to lots of vintage races, and they are great fun, lots to see in the paddock as well as on track. As Ross mentioned, the folks are usually very friendly and more than willing to talk about their car(s).
