Sometimes my rpm's drop and the check engine light comes on when there is constant pressure on the gas. Sometimes it does this more ofetn then not. I just got it back from the mechanic partly because of this problem. I had a whole in my hose (not sure what its called, its the largest plastic hose going into the engine) and the mechanic said it was blowing oil back into the engine and thats what was causing the rpms to drop like that. But i ahd this fixed and its still acting funny. sometimes the rpms will drop when im at a stop or when i just started the car and the engine will cut off. Can anyone tell me what this might be? Im wondering if I still have a real problem or if since i just got it back and the problem was just fixed and it was sitting for a few days maybe the engine just needs to work itself out a little. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Check the basics and the maintenance items.

Air/Fuel/Spark

Air (in): filter, loose boots, vacuum hoses
Air (out): catalytic converter (clogged), muffler

Fuel: filter, pump, gas

Spark: coil, wires, plugs, battery

Lastly, check the trouble/fault codes.
