I was getting ready to order new pads and rotors for my newly acquired 540i. I noticed that there are different rotors for a 540i “Sport”. How do I know if I have a sport model? The car has the M Sport Suspension. Does that mean I need to order the Sport rotors?

Thanks in advance.

to be honest I really think oem is the best. I have never thought that there was any differance. i must admit that i am not compleletly knowlegdeable about these things. It is a six speed? or an auto?

I have to say that at the end of the day i dont really dont go in for spending heaps on performance **** because i drive it every day, every week, heaps of miles and oem spec seems to do quite well.

where ur at might make a differance cause if u have one of the last of the run models with all the goodies stacked on it would change the spec. 540i( but M) is a differant spec depending where u are)!

Try realoem.com to see whats the go

best of luck. hope some other fuka with a bit more knowledge can help u.

you will not have a m-sport suspension unless the car is a M-sport.. There is electronics to control the damping

run the last 7 digits on realoem.com and get the correct part number and then order the rotors and pads.

Thanks guys. I checked out realoem.com but it doesn't help. They still list two different part #'s for the rotors:

02 BRAKE DISC, VENTILATED 302X28 2 34116756090 $122.76

ONLY APPLIES TO
INDIVIDUAL SERIES 95 540I SPORT
02 BRAKE DISC, VENTILATED 315X28 2 09/1995 34112226385 $103.23

I guess I can just measure what is there and figure it out that way.

What's the build date, and does the car have an EDC button on the dash?

the sport one is for M5 front brakes, just take a ruler to your rotor to find out its diameter
