I got my car back from the paint shop tues night and picked up all my clips and grommets needed to mount the new skirts today.

Unfortunately, I guess the paint guy thought that pulling the paint code for a 16-year-old factory paint job would match perfectly. I pulled up to pick up the car and it was like a slap in the face. The new paint is WAY too white. I can't even understand how this can actually happen. I mean really, do you actually expect 16-year-old paint to match the factory code? I dunno... Anyway, he said if I don't like it bring it back and he'll pull off the gas door and have it matched... Ya think?!

He really is a good auto painter that does a lot of custom work. He's a friend of the family and only charged me $275 and will make it right.

So anyway, mounted the skirts up today and wow! what a difference! With the painted air dams and skirts mounted it's like a whole different car. Not bad for about $350 total cost.

Here's some before and after pics:

Oh, BTW, picked up the skirts off a girl parting out a 95 530i for $60 for both skirts and all 4 bottom door trims. Think I got a deal? ;)

Turned out very nicely.

Any suspension plans?

BTW, E39 '535i' badge looks sharp.

Thank you. I really don't want to lower it, but I'd like to get rid of the famous e34 front end gap. I already have the 3mm upper spring pads from an M5. My plan is to order M5 front springs which should drop it around 3/4 inch and then get some 16" roundell 58's.. Maybe 17's.

Oh, I ordered the badge for a late '92 535i. That's when they started making them italicized. Thought it would look a little more modern.

Now all you need is one a deese (http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-E34-M5-Front-Stossstange_W0QQitemZ200012562530QQihZ010QQcategor yZ65075QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting)

here's the one I want, with the extended fins

I think that's the 95M5 bump cover. I bought the extended fins for mine, but I was too chicken to cut them in

Italicised ftw.

Skirts do look a little too white, but look sweet nonetheless. As someone said earlier, painted skirts has automatically lowered your car by a good inch ;)

Good work. Looks really good. I want to paint my skirts (stock here), but I think the effect is way better with a white or light-coloured car.

Thanks, I'm happy with them. It's going back into the shop this coming week to get the paint redone. It should look stock when the paint actually matches ;)

Prepare yourselves for an extremely newbie question.

What's the difference between normal and Mtech skirts!

As far as I know, for the e34, there are ONLY m-tech skirts. They only came on m5's and '95 525i, 530i, 540i.

Yes just Mtech... and on 535is as well as M5's

So they should fit all e34's? Are the clips to order from a M5 or any 95 e34? Thanks for the help as I want to solve this before I purchase any skirts.

Yeah they will fit all e34's. I ordered all new clips, grommets, etc for a 95 540i. I followed this site for instruction on how to put them on. The heardest part is drilling for the grommets, not that bad though. Actually, the hardest part was getting the door trims on. I pulled back the end caps and slid them on that way.

I have the full kit (M5) on my '89 535is, (as all is's do) when I had an accident I was told that the kit could be fitted to any E34 without any problems..

Haha holy moly that means I have M-tech skirts without even knowing it?!

No wonder I keep examining pics of E34 skirts, trying to find out what on earth makes them different to mine.
