Here's the story. Rather than painting my hood, I decided that I would just replace it as it would probably cost the same amount. I've tried searching online to no avail. Does such a thing exist?? Can someone help me out?? Thanks.

Not sure why you think it would cost the same amount as repainting your existing hood- especially since you can't find a CF hood.

I'm sure they're out there- somewhere, but I don't think you'll find one for $200 like the CF Honduh hoods..................and then there's shipping cost which could easily be $200 itself.

Bret is on the money about the cost. Even a new hood is cheaper than a C/F one. Then with the C/F one, you have to be careful about the paint or the clear, you need a hood prop and cannot use the shocks to keep it up, and hopefully the fit and finish is good.

There has been talk about installing an e34 c/f hood and even group buys, but for some reason, not many e34s have them...if they even do. That is for a reason. No good companies have taken the task of making an e34 hood and those that have have charged large amounts of money. I remember of one M5 that has it, but he is in europe.

If you are talking about cost, then go with the stock one. You have to also factor in problems later that you will have to pay for any corrections a c/f hood may need.

I've found a lot of sellers of CF hoods for a 89-93 e34 for under $500. Not that I have actually checked into it, but I would assume that a repaint of the hood would run higher than that. I just find it odd that there aren't any for the 94+ model years.

they show up here once or twice a year usually around $500, they are usually for 89-94 525/535/m5 cars as those are the most common, the 93-95 v8 and 95 525 with the wide snout are much less common, and uglyer :D

CF hood on a 525,,,,why??

The same reason anyone would want a CF hood on any car. Weight reduction.

Lee in Ottowa has a carbon fiber hood on his 535. his car is black so you can't really tell. Erebuni makes them. $459. (http://octanemotorsports.chainreactionweb.com/product_info.php?products_id=916)

the 94-95 has the "wide" hood, to match the wide grille. Basically the raised center section is wider than on the '89-93's. Not sure why they don't make them in CF, probably just not enough of a market for them.

Instead of asking all of us to speculate, if you're serious, why not call or email one of those places that sells them and ask- maybe they do make the '94 hood but just don't list it.......

what we need is a company to make a CF widebody hood with an aluminum brace so we can use the stock mounting hardware and hood shocks.

I think most peeps these days would go for it if they added the option of a (stick-on?) remote control setup so you could open and close it electronically and look even cooller than the ricers with their race-spec cold cathodes cahssis strengtheners, pop-up doors and so on...

Why can't I find a CF hood for an E34??

Easy, Coz it would look riced-up, try-hard and shithouse (unless the car itself is black or similar dark colour... then it may only look try-hard).

Let all the 'fast and furious' wanna-be's in their pseudo-performance Jap racers do their thing with that rubbish... You and your E34 deserve A LOT better than to stoop to such un imaginative levels!! :D
