With this hot weather and the fact that the battery lives under the seat and rarely gets looked at unless it goes bad, it is a great time to have a check on the level of the water in the battery.

I have a Die Hard battery that was in the car when I bought it. It needed to have the vent hose hooked up with an adaptor that my independent gave me so yesterday I finally got around to doing just that. Checked the water and it took about 8oz to bring the levels up to the bottom of the rings.

Use of distilled water is recommended. This is a maintenance item that probably gets neglected a lot more than an oil change. Enjoy.

Sorry to go OT, but this vent hose adapter you mention caught my eye. My car has a delphi battery in it that has no provision for hooking up to the vent hose. I contacted delphi and they say they don't make any sort of adaptor kit/hood that would allow me to hook it up. I would love to know where your indy got the adaptor, or if you could give me any more info about it.

Thanks, Jim

I have an optima red top and its a sealed batt and doesnt required venting, check the delhi, if its an AGM batt you shouldnt need venting.
