Everytime I see a Lincoln LS I see a crappy attempt at reinventing an E34. It seems so many of the design features that make an E34 stand out are also in the LS with only minor changes.

Here a couple postings I found on Ebay if you forget what one looks like.

I never noticed that they looked like e34s, but i always thought they looked really good. Better than most other cars, so i guess it makes sense.

Lincoln's original marketing campaign made it obvious that it was making an attempt (a pretty sad one) to compete with European sports sedans. So its really not surprising that they attempted to lift some of the design ideas from some of their more creative rivals. The overall shape of the car and the rear end especially have a hint of e34 in them.

If you want a car that i think blatantly steals from BMW and the E34 especially, look at the late 90's Mitsubishi Diamante:

And the back end is obvious

have a picture of an E34 hidden in a the bottom of a draw to refer to when creating a mid size sedan.

What's really funny is all the new Japanese autos coming out with "Bangle Butts" on them

I always lined it up more with an E38/39

I've always liked it as well

It was always a "poor mans 5er"

They used to market that the LS sport model would outhandle a BMW 540i. Except they compeded against a regular model 540i with 15" all seasons against the LS with 17" summer tires and complete sport package.

Now the LS is becoming the ghetto fab car that is taking over the Maximas place in urban areas.

Never having seen one in the flesh, so going only from the pics, I would say it looks more like an E39.

My mom's decorator has one just like this, but white and with a dark tint.

i think it resembles the e38/e39 more because of the enclosed headlights. it's a really nice looking car

I'm used to the big boss Hog lincolns of old.. The new ones look small and just don't do it for me. And yea, it does look a little bimmer-like. Among the lincolns though, I prefer a big shiny black mafia-looking 88 towncar to the recent revisions. Although my taste may suck.. they road very smooth. Could hit a semi and cause equal damage.

I see the resembleance. One big difference is if you think our E34s are a pain to maintine then get an LS and you will beg to have your E34 back. A guy I worked with had one and it would sit in the company lot for days because it would not run and he could not afford to have it fixed. Everytime I talked to him it had another problem and it still was under 100k. I think he got a deal on it from his fathers company when the company lease expired.

i think that that obvious copycat for the e34's and e24s were the mitsubishis from the early 90s. look at the front of a diamante and tell me that they don't bear a striking resemblance to a 6 series front, same with the e34 rear lamps on the same vehicle. the diamante station wagons, IMO, look like 6 series fronts with tourings grafted on.

What is even worse is that the M6 now look like crossfires

I don't see that one.

The LS was the best looking car from Lincoln in a while...I thought that it more closely resembled the e39, but the rear end treatment is terrible. It's like it just squared/fell off and they slammed some bulbous taillights in. Front end looks nice though.

Lincoln is trying to get a younger audience lately, and I think their design is starting to get there. The Zephyr doesn't look half bad [although I have never driven one]...It amazes me that Ford doesn't just take some of their European cars and bring em over here [HELLO--NEW GENERATION FOCUS???]

I would rather have a new Euro Focus ST than a GTI, and I have only had German cars.

I always turn around when I see one on the street, I think the proportions are just right and the features are very nice. For a Lincoln it looks brilliant.
