Does anyone know where the antenna traces through the 1994 318? My radio doesn't pick up worth diddly and I've tried a booster and another radio so it has to be the antenna or wire going to it.

Thanks

I only have the German wiring diagrams. The antenna is in the rear window with the heater for rear window, demister. Page 420.
The amp AM/FM (N8) should be in left C-pillar. It is the same like in my E32, where the amp is behind the cover of the C-pillar, I even have another one in the right C-pillar. See page 473.
They also say something about an amp in the trunk left, but maybe that is the touring and the cabriolet only.

antenna = Antenne
amp = Verstarker
Heckscheibenheizung/Antenne = rear window demister/heater/Antenna

Look for these words.

I would check if there is power at the amp behind the C-pillar.
Does the rear window heating work? That is the same source.
The control comes in my car from the heater control module.

That is from the E34:

The upper 3 lines on the glass are the AM radio antenna, the middle 8 are FM and defroster, and the bottom 8 are defrost , if the middle 8 or bottom 8 have a break in the lines it will affect how fast it defrosts. You can buy repair kits that consist of a small bottle of metallic foil paint. Then you use masking tape to mask off each side of the line where a break is and paint a thin line to reconnect it... I used it before to repair defrost elements and broken fm antennas.

rear defrost works fine.

what are you calling c-pillar? Once the antenna wire leaves the rear window does it run down beside the rear seat and then to the floor board or does it run along the edge of the car and under the door trim and drivers kick panel?

thanks

A pillar = which hold the windshield
B-pillar = betweehn front and rear door
C-pillar + which hold the rear wondow.
Here is a pic of a C-pillar of an E34, where you can see the amp for the radio and at the same time that inot is for heating the rear window (demist)

From there in my car it goes down besides the rear seat and the under the carpet at the door sills to the front. Check if the power is good shielded of the rear demist and for the radio amp. Aluminium wrap will do.
There on this white (see pic, and forget about the red arrows which just show where the clips are for the pillar cover) amp measure if there is outgoing power to the antenna in the rear window.

Send me your email adress as PM=private message and I will try to send you English wiring diagrams this evening local time in 3 emails, each under 10 MB, if your email box can hold this.
